Democracy is Indigenous

For Native and Indigenous Peoples, civic participation is also connected to Tribal sovereignty, self-determination, family wellbeing, and the future of our communities. Our Peoples have always made decisions together. Our voices belong in every place where policies are made, resources are allocated, and futures are shaped.

Urban Native Collective recognizes that Urban Native communities are often overlooked in civic engagement efforts, even though most Native Peoples live away from reservation lands. Urban Native Peoples deserve voter education, civic resources, and public policies that reflect our lives.

Our commitment

Urban Native Collective’s civic work is strictly nonpartisan and educational in nature. UNC does not support or oppose candidates or political parties. UNC does not tell people how to vote. UNC does not measure our work by election outcomes.

The Urban Native Collective affirms that Native and Indigenous Peoples and all eligible voters deserve the freedom to participate in civic life without fear., intimidation, surveillance, or targeting.
