Indigenous Peoples’ Day Convergence is happening here in Cincinnati for the eighth year in a row and our 2026 theme is Breaking Systems, which brings together contemporary Indigenous artists to dismantle colonial narratives and rebuild a future rooted in self-determination. Featuring a multidisciplinary array of works, the exhibition challenges the viewer to see Indigenous identity as a living, breathing, and evolving force. It is a celebration of the "Indigenized" punk aesthetic—a reminder that for many Indigenous Peoples, the apocalypse has already happened, and survival is the ultimate act of defiance.
We will have an Indigenous art exhibition, a speaker and film series, shows and performances, and our annual feast.
This is a FREE event open to the public!
SCHEDULE OF EVENTS
FRIDAY OCTOBER 9, 2026 5-9pm
Art Exhibition Opening Party at the Contemporary Arts Center with our Breaking Systems exhibition opening at the Contemporary Arts Center in the lower level gallery. This event will showcase the work of Indigenous artists and feature performances from the Copper Face United Powwow Troupe and DJ Creepingbear. Tortilleria Garcia will have a selection of food items for purchase We hope you can join us for this celebration of art & community!
SATURDAY OCTOBER 10, 2026 10-1pm
Speaker & Film Series at the Aronoff Center’s Jarson-Kaplan Theater, featuring artist talks, films, and performances. We hope to see you there for a time of inspiration, education, and conversation! Following this event, we encourage you to view our art exhibition.
SATURDAY OCTOBER 10, 2026 8-10pm
Breaking Systems Show at the Heart of Northside, featuring 1876, Lo Cash Ninas, and more.
MONDAY OCTOBER 12, 2026 4-8pm
Indigenous Peoples’ Day Feast at Jacob Hoffner Park. Everyone is encouraged to bring a traditional dish from their respective cultures to share, eating utensils to reduce waste, and a blanket/lawn chair. Copper Face United Powwow Troupe will perform from 5:30pm-6:30pm. We look forward to celebrating our vibrant community!
